MET PC DISMISSED FOR SEXUALLY INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOUR
A police officer from the Metropolitan Police has been dismissed following allegations of sexually inappropriate conduct towards two female colleagues during duty hours. The disciplinary process, which was finalized on Friday, January 23rd, determined that PC Calum O’Loughnane, stationed with the Central North Command Unit, engaged in improper behaviour, including placing his hands on the legs of the officers involved.
Chief Superintendent Jason Stewart, overseeing police operations in the Central North region, commented: ‘‘The conduct displayed by PC O’Loughnane is entirely unacceptable for a serving officer.
‘‘Women deserve to feel safe working at the Met, and there is no place for sexual misconduct in policing.
‘‘We are working hard to make sure anyone who does not reach these standards is removed from the force.’’ It was concluded that PC O'Loughnane violated the police professional behaviour standards concerning discreditable conduct.
His actions constituted gross misconduct, warranting immediate dismissal.
Furthermore, he will be added to the College of Policing’s barred list, which prevents him from working in police roles, local policing bodies, or organizations such as the Independent Office for Police Conduct and His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services.
